Four CorkAP’ers spent last Sunday in the darkroom of the Lismore Gallery & Photographic Studio – Dee, Padraig, Sanda, and myself. Despite the fact that it was a shame to spend such a nice, sunny day in the dark, we had a great time, and it was very productive. Mariela could not have been more accomodating, providing equipment, chemicals and an excellent wet side of the dark room (ie bloody big sink!). A little bit of a learning curve when we arrived, as there was an eclectic mix of enlargers, all with their own methods of timing, but they worked well, and we had no problems once we got used to them.
The darkroom is available commercially, and for very reasonable rates. For more inormation contact Mariela on +353 (0)58 72824, or visit the website at http://www.lismoregallery.com/ or http://www.lismore-ireland.com/marielamartin.shtml.
If you are in the West Waterford area, Lismore is a lovely little town. The gallery is on the main street, and is currently showing an exhibition by artist Niamh Flanagan. So drop in for a look and a chat.
